Getting Ready for Boca Raton

We are getting ready this morning to catch our flight to Ft Lauderdale Florida.  Kenny and I are heading to the Mater Marketing Event 31 March 2010.  I will also be celebrating my birthday on the 1st of April in Florida.  Hoping for a nice day on the beach before the flight home.  I hope to have tons of pictures and videos for posting.  Blessings!

The Buck Stops Here – Taking Responsibility

On the way to work this morning – of course, I was listening to a CD of a book. This author was discussing about being responsible for your past. Stop blaming where you are today on others, on outside events. I’d never thought about it quite this way before – it hit me like a ton of bricks!

Stop being a victim.

How cool is that. I am not a victim of circumstances. Where I am today is based upon choices I’ve made up to now.
The best part of this – where I will be in a year or two, or three, or ten – is totally based upon me.  No one else!
We are not victims. That thought just lifted my spirits and the weight left my shoulders. I hope you feel the freedom too.

Saying “no”

Look for ways each day to say “no” to yourself.

Be in control.

Ask yourself, “Is this beneficial to me? To my business?”

Will this choice control me?  Or I it?

Your character is the sum total of your everyday choices.

Look for ways to say “no” to yourself each day.

Exert control.  Be in control of you.

Tell “the little guy” in your head to sit back and shut up.

Choices made this day will affect the rest of your life.

Choose.

Eagle Festival in Cambridge Maryland

We are leaving the house at 5:30 am. Yes, a two hour drive to Cambridge, for the 10th annual Eagle Festival. Three will be live eagle, peregrine falcon and other birds of prey programs, kid’s programs, kid’s bird box construction, puppet show, eagle prowls, bird walk, wildlife exhibits and live bird exhibits, and food all day.
I’m taking the Flip – so hopfully there will be some video to share.
Blessings!

A bit about me today….

After spending 6 years in the US Air Force out in the “real world” – I had a job as a trainer. Yes, I traveled the world from Europe, to an island in the Indian Ocean, and yes, to an island in the Bering Sea. I loved the travel. But more, I loved training. Working with the people to help them understand a difficult software system.

We traveled and installed systems (the hardware and software) and I trained the operators how to use the new system. The thing that always amazed me was how during each and every single class that I could learn something about a software package I thought I knew inside and out. We think we know the “way” to do something. But another can look and the same thing and do it very differently. Not wrong by any stretch – just another route. I loved the training, working shifts with the operators.

This makes me think of a quote, and I don’t know by whom, “If we keep going down the same old road, how will we get anywhere else”.  In other words – if we continue to do the same things that got us where we are today – then how can we expect tomorrow to be any different.  Hope is great – but there has got to be some action on our part.

I hope you’ll think about that and maybe I’ve it a chord….

It was a great time in my life and I’m glad of the experience.
Blessings! Colleen

Love & Protect Your Vision

We all know how important visualizing your dreams can be. To sit quietly each and every day and feel the feelings, smell the aromas of your dreams. To hear the sounds, the conversation…. Really get in there and be in the future.

The other day on one of the calls – I heard how we should nurture our dream explained in a way that every person could understand.

In the early stages of you vision… It is fragile. It requires protection. You have got to keep it alive inside of you. Now, consider a pregnant woman. She takes extra vitamins, she changes her life and lifestyle to protect and nurture the infant growing within. There’s no-smoking, no drinking, saying no to certain foods, saying no to activities which may harm the life inside…. There is a vision growing within.

Carry, protect, feed that vision inside of you. Nurture – Care – Be Clear.

Love the Vision – Talk to the Vision – Feed the Vision

Feel the heartbeat of the Vision.

Mastery of Self

“To inspire in others a desire to change for the better is truly noble; but this you can do only by leaving them alone, and becoming more noble yourself.” -Christian Larson

The second decision for Success in Andy Andrews’ book “The Traveler’s Gift” is “I will seek wisdom“.

Part of seeking wisdom is reading or listening to books. Andy Andrews’ book is a wonderful place to start your journey. This journey is one that should lead you to your inner self. Allowing you to grow into the leader that is within you. Leadership is not directing others it is directing self – it is a journey.

I hope that you will choose to read Andy Andrews’ book and begin your journey to greatness.

Success Never Rests

Success never rests. On your worst days be good, on your best days be great. And on every other day, get better. -Carmen Mariano

What an incredible quote.

Even more important – what an incredible way to live. To keep that consistency in your every day. Focus. Keeping the focus is a skill. It is doing the things that need to be done. The little things and the big things.

It is commitment to your dream and your future that opens the door. Look at the future and decide what you want it to be – know what it will take to get there. Focus.

Aude aliquid dignum – Dare Something Worthy.

Just think about that phrase for a few minutes.

Going about this all wrong

Hi-
Boy, oh boy. I have been going on about this all quite backwards (or as my Dad always said,” bassackwards”)now for some time. I guess I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by all of the new information.
So, finally I think I’ve got it by George.
Speaking of George, and how could there be another, besides Washington. I was reading in a back issue of Smithsonian Magazine an article title “Washington & Lafayette”. I found it fitting with all of the “learning” I’ve been immersed in of late.

Here’s just a tiny quote. “Like other founding fathers of this new world, Washington and Lafayette started out by striving to be seen as the men they wished to be.”
Now that struck me – because that is exactly what Joe Vitale, Anthony Robbins, Andy Andrews, are telling us to do.
This Secret is nothing new – it is age old. See ourselves as where we want to be, who we want to be, and walk in the confidence of it….
Many Blessings- Colleen
